The Light That Illuminates the Darkness: Awareness

by Zeynep Ölçer 05 Dec 2024

Awareness is like a mysterious light that hides somewhere deep inside but changes everything when it touches our lives. As we walk through dark rooms throughout our life journey, we feel like something is missing but we don't know exactly what is wrong. When our eyes are closed and our awareness is low, the events we encounter in life, the pain we experience or even the joys we feel often lose their meaning.

Imagine being in a dark room; it is not possible to fully understand the room in the dark. You try to understand something by touching only the objects you know are in the room, but the darkness still hides all the details. Awareness is turning a light on that dark room. Once that light is turned on, the room stands before you in all its reality.

Awareness is the courage to turn on that light in our lives. The events we encounter in our daily lives, the small details, the people we meet, each one is a sign, a message for us. However, if our awareness is not open, we cannot see these messages. We cannot understand what life wants to tell us, what lessons it wants to give us. We struggle in a vicious circle, saying, “He did this to me”, “He told me that”. And because we do not understand, the lesson continues to come, getting harder.

We are so used to walking in the dark that we want to continue like that. We may be afraid of what we will see when we turn on the light. Although this area seems to provide confidence just because it is familiar, it is actually a comfort zone that only dulls us. When you invite awareness into your life, you start to get out of this comfort zone, gain a new perspective and grasp the essence of events. Being aware is not only seeing what is happening around you, but also understanding what is happening in your own inner world. It is questioning the reasons behind every emotion you experience, every reaction you give and every decision you make. Thanks to these questions, you start to establish a deep connection with yourself; you learn what makes you happy, which events upset you and what you actually need.

When you start to discover yourself, you see that everything that happens in the outside world is actually a guide for you. This guidance shows itself not only in positive events but also in difficulties. Sometimes, while you question why life seems so difficult to you, why you are in a constant struggle, you realize that every event you experience is actually a teaching. Awareness is like a compass that shows you the way; it directs you when you are on the wrong path or when you need to learn a lesson.

When this light starts to burn, even dimly, you feel that you are starting to find the meaning of everything in your life. This light is on to show you the way; but if you insist on closing your eyes, you may not see this guidance. When a person feels this enlightenment even from a distance, they want to tell those around them and share this light with them. However, awareness is a personal choice. Not everyone wants to experience this enlightenment. Telling someone who is asleep to “wake up” sometimes only makes them angrier and want to be left alone.

Turn on that light to discover the deeper meaning of what you are experiencing, to see your pain as an educational experience and to take more conscious steps in your life. Progressing on the path of awareness allows you to establish a strong connection not only with yourself but also with the universe. This journey will provide you with deeper peace, a stronger inner balance and a more meaningful life. Now, turn on that light in your life and see that everything is exactly as it should be. In this way, you will say thank goodness it happened to every event and thank everyone!!!
